Carolyn Ping Obituary, Death Cause – At Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital on Monday, December 4, 2023, Carolyn Ping, who was 79 years old and a resident of Somerset, Kentucky, departed physically from this world. In Somerset, Kentucky, on February 29, 1944, Carolyn was born to the late Samuel Brinson and Fannie Glover McGowan. Both of her parents have now passed away. She attended the Saline Church of God throughout her life. Her flower garden, canning, and cleaning her house were all activities that she very much liked doing.
Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she enjoyed being able to decorate for it. She had a deep love for her family. Carolyn’s parents, Samuel Brinson and Fannie McGowan, as well as her brother, Carriel VanHook, her sisters, Alta Tomlinson, Bernadean Walker, Geathel McGowan, and Alfreda Stevenson, and her son-in-law, Paul Strange, all passed away before her. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Gerald Ping, as well as her daughters, Debra Chaney (James) of Shopville, Kentucky,
and Sherry Strange of Ferguson, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Ashley Gholson (Nick), Jesse Taylor (Kari), Eric Taylor, and Casey Taylor (Brittney), as well as 15 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Karen Heath, whom she loved as if she were her sister. The funeral service will commence at one o’clock on Friday, December 8, 2023, and Bro. Stan Rutland will preside over the ceremony. Visitation will take place in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home from eleven in the morning until one in the afternoon. A subsequent interment will take place at the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
