Earl Carlson Obituary, Death Cause – At Brooks Memorial Hospital, Earl J. Carlson, 92, of Fredonia passed away on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2023.
The late Carl and Aina (Sievenus) Carlson were his parents, and he was born in Dunkirk on November 6, 1930. Earl, a 1948 alumnus of Dunkirk High School, has lived in the region his whole life. He worked as a mechanic/machinist at Ralston Purina and was a member of the USMC. In addition to being a member of Forest Lodge 166, Dunkirk Cryptic Masons, the Scottish Rite Valley of Jamestown, Dunkirk Commanderies, HRAKTP, and the Knights York Cross of Honor,

Earl was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dunkirk. Three daughters, Lisa (Tom) Hawk, Kimberly (Peter) Zielinski, and Carol (David) Bleck, all of Fredonia; five grandchildren, Raleigh (Kathryn) Hawk, Michael Hawk, David Bleck, and Megan Bleck; one great-granddaughter, Trucy Hawk; brother-in-law, Dale (Zoe) Bond; sister-in-law, Karen (John) Popowych; cherished cousin, Susan (Joseph Eicheldinger) Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews are among the survivors. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Jeanette Skinner, Aina Youhill, and Helen Carlson; five brothers,

Carl, Norman, Bertel, George, and Helge Carlson; and his first wife of fifty years, June Carlson. His second wife was Gloria Carlson. Calling hours at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home are scheduled for TODAY, October 23, from 5-8 p.m. The funeral home will host a funeral ceremony on Tuesday, October 24, starting at 10:00 a.m. The celebrant will be Rev. Holly Clark-Porter. Interment will take place in Fredonia’s Forest Hill Cemetery. Donations to Forest Lodge 166 or the Lakeshore Humane Society may be donated in place of flowers.
