Somehow I prefer the new Bond movies... Quantum is not a great Bond movie, but I'll take it over any of Moore's 007 outings.

I wouldn't say I prefer any era over the other as a whole. Each has their strengths (Casino Royale, Goldfinger) and each has their weaknesses (Die Another Day, On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Live and Let Die is probably my favorite intro song and I like the ridiculousness of Moore's Bond. Quantum will always be compared to Casino Royale and in that respect will never be near the tops of the franchise but I will still pick it over Live and Let Die because the action is just so much better.

Considering that Quantum of Solace is probably the worst Bond movie, this is no contest. Live and Let Die isn't my favourite Moore Bond, but nonetheless Top 100 material. I just love all Connery/Lazenby/Moore/Dalton Bonds.

Y'know, maybe it's because I've never been a die hard Bond fan. I've always liked the series, but I've never been hugely into the older movies. (I did recently re-watch From Russia With Love; it was good, but I am unfairly biased against older movies.) And as I'm just more of an action movie fan than, specifically, a Bond fan, that's probably a good reason why I choose Quantum. (It really does owe a lot to Jason Bourne, whose movies I do love.) That and it's been many years since I saw any of the Moore films. I think I remember preferring For Your Eyes Only and A View to a Kill over Live and Let Die, but I also seem to see a lot of comments about A View to a Kill really being a stinker, so I probably just don't know what I'm talking about...

No, A View to a Kill is actually very good (just as For Your Eyes Only); in fact, it is my favourite Bond movie overall. I'm a huge action movie fan as well, and that's one of many reasons I particularly love the older Bonds. They are just so much fun. Brosnan's movies (with the exception of GoldenEye) are too much over the top at times, while Craig's films, and Quantum of Solace in particular, have rather boring action scenes in my opinion. The shaky camera doesn't help, either. Even though I'm not a real fan of the Bourne series, it is much better than QoS in almost every aspect.

I do agree with your last statement; Quantum doesn't hold a candle to Bourne. Brosnan was actually my favorite Bond (as much as I hate to say that because, I mean...Sean Connery!), and I actually like the over-the-top stuff in Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough. (Die Another Day was too much.) In fact, I think I even still call TND my favorite Bond, just ahead of Casino Royale. Anyway, it's definitely Christopher Walken I liked best in A View to a Kill. (And man, this comment is just all over the place...)

Live and Let Die has this stunt where the guy ran on actual gators, so that one instantly gets my vote. Why don't they do stunts that could likely kill people anymore?

I like QOS a lot. I like Daniel Craig in the role more than any other Bond, and I like that QOS is one of the most emotionally intense Bond film. Craig's cold and violent exterior is perfect, though it belies just how much he's hurting on the inside after Vesper's betrayal in CR. LALD is fun, and one of the best during an era of Bond films I don't particularly enjoy, but I love Daniel Craig as Bond.

Live and Let Die and Quantum of Solace are both low on my list. I guess the difference is that Live and Let Die is more tedious and cringe-worthy. Quantum was just generic and empty. I'd probably be able to get through it with less irritation if I had to rewatch the two films. I'm pretty sure Pepper is worse than anything from Quantum.

Live and Let Die is one of my least favorite Bond movies, mostly because of the things KingofPain pointed out. Quantum of Solace is somewhere in the middle for me when it comes to Bond movies. It is not awful or anything, it's just a very nothing movie. There is a car chase, there is a foot chase and there is even a plane chase, yet they are so poorly filmed and edited that you don't really care what happens because you don't see what exactly is happening. It is one of the blandest films in the franchise.

J.W. can go fuck himself!

I actually like QOS, but LALD has the advantage of being self-contained.
